July 2015

We held a club grading with Sensei Mark Caddy and everyone did very well – we now have five new red belts!

Unfortunately, the demo for Langer School did not happen as they had some kind of mix up, we will, though, be doing more soon. Plus if you would like us to visit you pleaseget in touch.

We had a great time at Kingsfleet Primary school doing a business talk about ASF. Here is what was said after the event.

‘Feedback from staff and children was very positive. We run the Enterprise Project every two years….so will be calling on you again! Thank you for your offer to come in regarding the martial arts – we may very well be in touch again soon.

Thank you very much – we greatly appreciate your time.’

Next we had the full day of martial arts for Felixstowe Academy as part of activities week. We had a very big hall which made it even more fun with all the mats and equipment available.

Aimee and I taught roughly 20 minutes of one martial art then moved on to another and kept this going throughout the day.
We covered Judo, BJJ, Karate, Kickboxing, Aiki jutsu, Goshin Jutsu, Aikido, Kodachi, games and lots more.
Halfway through the day we were asked back for next year by the staff, w
hich hopefully says something about how much fun everyone was having.

It was also nice to have children come up to us and thanking us for all the different martial arts we had taught. We also gave everyone a medal that was engraved as a keepsake.

We are hoping that the teachers who joined in on the day may send us some more feedback as they commented on how much they were enjoying it as much as the children.

Next, on Sunday 19th July Aimee took part in her first BJJ (brazillian Ju jitsu) competition. She not only beat a more experienced competitor but won 18-0 and took the gold medal. She is now hoping to compete again in September.

We also had a fantastic Sword seminar with Sensei Chris Barron and Carl Swaffer. This included a special grading for Carl that we were allowed to watch. It was great to see him achieve his 3rd Dan black belt.

Unfortunately on the day we didn’t get many pictures of the event, but we will of course look to run another one in the future.

Here is my resume for our trip to Africa this August and we will follow up with a report when we return.

Look out in October as we are very excited to be offering a short BJJ (brazilian Ju jitsu) seminar, TBC.
