Aimee and I completed our British Aikido Board (BAB) Level 2 Coaching Award with six others under the watchful eye of Frank Burlingham. We had already previously completed a day session covering all the theory on teaching methods and identifying how to become a successful coach. Subjects covered within the theory included communication, risk assessment, health and safety and more. For today’s practical session we had to produce a lesson plan and scheme of work then teach our colleagues for 30 minutes.
We both found the lesson plan and scheme of work to be a fairly easy thing to do, what was not so easy was to teach people who were the same grade as us and then to teach three of our own instructors – a 5th, 6th and 8th Dan! We are pleased to confirm that we both received excellent feedback and passed with flying colors.
