  • Assertiveness – How to stop bullying behavior
  • What is bullying?
  • Why do people do it?
  • Why is it bad to bully others?
  • What should we/shouldn’t we do when we see others being bullied?
  • How should you deal with bullying?
  • Buddying.
  • Cyber-bullying.

New Martial Art classes

What do we teach? Okinawan Karate- Shorin Ryu

Shorin Ryu is a traditional Japanese style of Karate (which translates as ‘empty hand’). During a typical class you will be taught various blocks, kicks, punches, strikes, stances and footwork which would be used in unarmed combat.

You will also be required to learn the basics, kata (which are sequences of precisely defined techniques) and Kumite (sparring) to help to hone your skills and improve your fitness whilst conditioning your mind and body.

Goshin Jutsu

Goshin Jutsu basically translates as ‘self defence’ and this is one of the main reasons why people decide to take up a martial art. We will be using a mixture of karate, jujutsu and the UK law with regards to self defence.

Goshin Jutsu sessions will be scheduled at random points during the month and these will also form part of your grading requirements.

Groundwork

This will be included within the Goshin Jutsu sessions, although we firmly believe that you never want to end up on the ground in a fight it is definitely worth knowing how to deal with certain situations should this happen.

Kobudo

Kobudo is the art of weapons training. Traditionally, these were Okinawan farming tools which include the Bo, Sai, Tonfa and Kama. These sessions will be hosted by other Jindokai instructors throughout the year.

Competitions and Special Events

During the year competitions, seminars and visits from guest instructors will take place.

You will have the option to go and visit other Jindokai clubs in the UK and take part in their events if you wish. We will also have visits from other Sensei from the Jindokai and hopefully will run our own events in the future.
